Axis Communications 0230-004 Video Server, 241QA Video Server The Axis Communications AXIS 241QA Video Server effectively bridges the gap between analog and digital technology. The server accepts four analog fixed or dome cameras and turns them into virtual network cameras complete with full remote Internet viewing and recording, PTZ control and alarm I/O ports. This server includes its own enclosure and unlike a Blade, is designed for complete standalone operation. Connection to the network is via a single Ethernet cable, making it quick and easy to setup and operate without the need for a local PC. These and other features make this server a very useful tool for long established security facilities looking to take full advantage of the latest in network technology without having to replace their existing high resolution and expensive analog equipment. By connecting an optional microphone and speaker to this unit's audio I/O ports, a PC user will be able to hear and speak with a person at the camera location over the network. This is an extremely useful feature in factories, retail stores, transportation facilities and numerous other applications requiring the ability to communicate verbally over a network. Video Servers are available in four different configurations, each designed to suit a particular application. This AXIS 241QA Video Server has the distinction of being able to capture video simultaneously in both the MJPEG and MPEG-4 formats at a resolution of 704 x 480 and at speeds up to 30 FPS. This gives a user the necessary control over how data is transmitted over a network and also provides a user with the image clarity and smooth picture movement required to better identify people and objects. A number of standard serial ports allow the direct connection of PTZ dome cameras. Once connected, dome cameras are treated like any other network camera, with a user able to control basic pan, tilt, and zoom functions as well as any additional complex operations like preset positions, tours and groups. To further enhance security performance, this server features a number of alarm I/O ports. These I/O ports will accept a number of external sensors to trigger alarm events such as when a door or window is being forcefully opened, and to activate devices following an alarm event like turning a light on or locking down a row of doors. Built into the server is a motion detection function fully configurable for area and sensitivity. Motion detection not only alerts an operator to suspicious movement, but when used to trigger recording to a DVR, saves valuable time and network resources. To keep users apprised of all important events, this server can be set to send alerts to a designated Email address over the network. Axis Communications 0230-004 Video Server, 241QA Video Server Feature: • 2-Way Audio • Simultaneous M-JPEG/MPEG-4 (30 FPS) • PTZ Control • Alarm I/O Ports • Built-In Motion Detection
