The Axis Communications AXIS Q7406 is a 6-port video encoder blade for use with an AXIS 07900 Rack. With its 14 blade capacity, the AXIS 07900 Rack supports a total of 84 cameras, making it an indispensable tool for CCTV facilities needing to interface a large number of analog cameras with a network. Given the large number of cameras supported by the AXIS Q7900 Rack solution, Axis wisely chose to incorporate the H.264 video compression method for this system. Also known as MPEG-4 Part 10, H.264 is uniquely capable of generating fantastic looking images while keeping file sizes to a minimum. However, you can still choose to use the MJPEG codec if you feel there's a need for it. Not are only will you be able to view cameras over the network, but the Axis Rack also adds PTZ control (1 per channel), and alarm connectors (2 per channel) to your analog cameras. Furthermore, each camera is also provided with a motion detection and active tampering alarm function. Each camera channel can output multiple streams of video at 30 FPS in full D1 resolution over the network. Furthermore, you can set different quality levels and frame rates for each of the video streams in order to satisfy devices or network requirements. Multi-protocol support means that the blade will support the PTZ functions of most cameras including those manufactured by American Dynamics, Bosch, Canon, Panasonic, Pelco, Philips, Samsung, Sensormatic and Sony. Axis welcomes all software developers looking to integrate their program creations with the functionalities of this system including requesting images, controlling network camera functions (PTZ, relays etc.) and setting/retrieving internal parameter values. By allowing interoperability with third party developers, Axis offers a long-term flexible and scalable solution for their customers.
