Open Question: 100% waterproof gps? not just 30 min.?

i baught a garmin and just realized it's only submersible for 30 min. is there something that can be in the water indefinitly, at sea level to 5- 10 feet underwater

Has anyone had any experience with wrist mounted GPS (for running and hiking) ? I am thinking of buying one but not sure where to start. I heard that Garmin makes a decent one but wanted to ask someones opinion before I went and bought one. Can anyone suggest a good one ?

I have a garmin oregon 550t and I would like to get Birdseye maps or Birdseye hybrid maps for free. It can be for the U.S.A or just IL because I live in IL. GPX would be nice but any that work will do.

Resolved Question: Which handheld GPS for the A.T.?

I plan on hiking the Appalachian Trail next year and have been considering a hand held GPS unit, since I get lost so easy. I am currently learning how to use a compass, but still would like to carry a GPS if/when I get off the trail, like going into town or bushwhacking. As I mentioned, I get lost very easily and would like something to help me get back on the trail. I have been looking at Garmin models (specifically Etrex 30 as well as Montana 650t). My family is going to Jacksonville NC to see my nephew arrive back from deployment. I am having trouble putting info into are Garmin because I can not find an address to the new river base. Does anyone know if there is an address and if not how do I make sure my garmin gets them to the right area?

i want a handheld GPS preferably Garmin that i cans have waypoints on , have pretty detailed color map& screen touch screen would be cool but doesn't have to be, and i would like to have the capability to locate friends of mine that would have the same system weather reports would be nice also, if you have other suggestion besides Garmin please tell me !
